The artist, Edvard Lehmann (1815 1892), has captured his posture nicely and used an array of skilfully considered marks to create the piece. Lehmann studied at the Royal Danish Academy in his hometown of Copenhagen. Hes known predominantly for his interior scenes and he also worked at the Royal Danish Theatre as a costume draughtsman.
