I fondly recall playing the base set with childhood neighbors in 1999 and obtaining the Ancient Mew card at screenings of Pokmon the Movie 2000: The Power of One

Obvious ideas would be exchanging most of the expensive vampires in exchange for cheaper and (only slightly in some situations) weaker ones and consider getting creatures that aren't vampires, getting more spells in exchange for creatures could be good too, (I might have stuck with the whole vampire theme a little too much here) But after all that I'm still stoked to play it just need to add a bit of power to it.
