RARE VIKING SHIELD RING C. 10TH-11TH CENTURY, SIZE 9 3/4 11 1/2 in an irregular patternOval bezel, over 7 8 height with stipple line borders. The field with a stipple outlined cross with nubs at the center and beam terminals. All the decoration uniform and crisp. The bottom as separate overlapping prongs. The cross as a decorative symbol was widely used by Vikings before their conversion to Christianity. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold overlay restored for contemporary wear.
